The Instruments Group is passionate about development of state-of-the-art inspection and metrology equipment used in production and research and development environments. Organization is globally located in US, China, and Singapore. We provide critical cost-effective solutions for power electronics, LED, communications, automotive, data storage, and other related nanoelectronics and materials science applications. We partner with our customers to provide state of the art hardware and software to improve yield and lower overall production costs by supplying world-leading inspection, metrology and review systems. In addition to developing valuable product solutions, the group provides support to customers to achieve performance entitlement through sharing and implementation of application BKMs (Best Known Methods).

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The Electrical Design Engineer will be a member of interdisciplinary teams to bring designs from the concept stage all the way to production. The design engineer will be involved in all phases of mixed signal printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design, from specification development, through schematic capture, to testing prototype hardware and releasing designs to production. 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and define project specifications and performance requirements at the board and system level.
  • Complete design projects from concept to production release.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed designs including schematic capture using OrCAD, PSpice, Xilinx FPGA development systems, etc...
  • Fix electrical systems to identify the root cause of system failures
  • Write technical documentation that meets the defined quality standards for manufacturing / service team as required
  • Convey information to partners with a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience
  • Solid knowledge of electrical engineering principals and have experience with analog, digital, and mixed signal electronics design. 
  • Preferred skills: Firmware development for FPGAs (VHDL/Verilog), embedded software development for microcontrollers, and simulation of electrical circuits (PSpice, Ansys, etc.).
